Children attending Barnies Out of School Club are supported, developed and inspired through the ethos and practise of the Playwork Assumptions and Values. These form the basis for the professional Playwork Practioner and ensure that children are encouraged to develop on an individual basis. Structured activities and plans are organized around these principles and are adjusted to suit either the after school or holiday periods.
HOMEWORK - Children are encouraged to share their homework with the staff and work on an individual or one to one basis. Parent consultation and information is available to discuss a child’s progress and ensure consistency of approach.
HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES - Plans during the holiday periods allow for a variety of outdoor play and games, art and craft activities linked to a theme, outings or walks, cooking and baking as well as access to the usual games, puzzles and resources. Homework is not usually included during these periods. Children are encouraged to develop their own plans and ideas supported by the practitioner. The recent Carnival theme at one of our holiday playschemes introduced exotic fruits to try as well as music, activities and games from carnivals around the world.
